During initialization, FCPowerTM software polls each of its known ports with specific commands. The FCPowerTM software then listens for a response that it recognizes. If it is able to identify the response the client and server for that piece of equipment is loaded into memory. This client server pair provides both the user interface to the computer for that instrument as well as the hardware interface between the computer and the instrument. The first time FCPowerTM software is started, this may take several seconds, but subsequent searches are much faster.
