Esomeprazole inhibits the acid secretion. Nexium does not exhibit anticholinergic or H2 blocking action. Esomeprazole irreversibly inhibits H+/K+-ATPase. The acid secretion resumes only when new enzyme molecules are synthesized.. Esomeprazole also inhibits carbonic anhydrase enzyme.
