How does education influence our identity through ability, gender, social class, age, religion and ethnicity?
As someone has already said: that is a massive question. Realistically you’re looking at 45 sources all-in-all to answer all of those questions. Individuals have dedicated a PhD thesis (100 000 words) just trying to figure out what ability -is-. Essentially, the difference is huge. Younger people generally have a higher chance, men generally achieve higher though women achieve better, the upper classes generally achieve higher and the lower classes generally have little interest in continuing due to the hidden curriculum (see the Lad’s Study), religion depends upon country. I haven’t cited studies because this isn’t my area of expertise, and I don’t really have time to go through something huge like this. Visit Questia and the best of luck to you. If you have a copy Sociology: Perspectives and Principles Haralambos and Holborn, or something to that effect, it’ll be an invaluable resource.
