How does ECHO relate to other EPA information and data management initiatives?
ECHO relies on the Integrated Data for Enforcement Analysis (IDEA) system, which copies databases once per month and places them in a high-speed search engine. IDEA and ECHO are components of EPA s overall plan to modernize compliance and enforcement data within the Integrated Compliance Information System (ICIS). ICIS seeks to improve and modernize the way EPA collects and manages enforcement and compliance data. ECHO also utilizes several EPA projects that assist in integrating data from many programs for example, the Facility Registry System (FRS) and the EnviroFacts Web site.
