How does drainage work in the Jardinier Reservoir System?
A. The reservoir system has three layers of drainage. Most of the rainfall is absorbed by Jardinier’s Ecosoil?. The second layer is the water harvesting by the reservoir. The final layer is the “false drain”. The false drain is 3inches to 9 inches of gravel on the bottom. Any water that is not harvested by the reservoir or the soil stays in the gravel. By placing a perforated pipe along the bottom, in case of a rainfall greater than 6 inches, the excess water can be pumped out of the planter.
