How does DOR figure out how much I have to pay to prevent interest and penalty charges?
If your case has a current child support order, DOR will not charge interest or penalties in any month in which you pay the total current support due for that month. If your case no longer has a current support order but you owe past-due support, we will not charge interest or penalties in any month in which you pay the total monthly amount of the last current support ordered by the court order in your case or amount of any wage levy issued to your employer by DOR. If you have more than one case, we look at each case separately to see whether the total payments allocated to each case were enough to prevent charges of interest and penalties in that case. Because of this, you may be charged interest in one case and not the other.
