How does DNA structure determine the specific shape of enzymes?
The specific shape of enzymes is really determined by its amino acid sequence. Each amino acid has different properties, and are equipped with different functional groups, etc. The interactions between the amino acids in the peptide are what determines the shape of the enzyme. Unfortunately, since most enzymes have hundreds of amino acids, these interactions can become very difficult to predict. Predicting the way a given sequence will fold is very computationally strenuous, and with current technology, inaccurate. However, the amino acid sequence is determined, of course, by the DNA sequence. So in general, DNA sequence determines amino acid sequence, and amino acid sequence determines protein shape (via intermolecular interactions, as well as some help from protein folding enzymes).
