How does DLEP 2009 respond to the new Integrated Planning and Reporting functions?
Integrated Planning and Reporting reforms were legislated in October 2009 and will replace the current Management Plan and Social Plan requirements with an integrated framework linked to the Council election cycle. It is intended that these changes will achieve greater accountability and transparency to the community for the business of Council in terms of resource allocation, an integration of planning processes and will strengthen Council’s strategic focus. Council has resolved that its Community Strategic Plan (CSP) and Delivery Plan will be prepared by 30 June 2011. This being the case DLEP 2009 will be prepared ahead of the CSP. It is noted that Council’s Vision 2025 will continue to underpin DLEP 2009, the CPS and other subsequent LEPs. Once delivered, the CSP could inform future LEP reviews. DOP also requires that LEPs prepared under the Standard Instrument LEP Template be reviewed every five years. For further more information see Fact Sheet 4 – Strategic Context.
