How does DiscoverScholars.org work for donors?
Donors interested in contributing to individual students do so via the DiscoverScholars.org donation page. Donors make credit card contributions directly to DiscoverScholars.org, so as to preserve their tax-exempt status. Along with their contributions, donors also specify which attributes they would like the students who receive their funding to possess, and the importance of each attribute. These characteristics include students’ learning institutions, GPA ranges, expected majors, level of financial need, extracurricular activities, region of the country, and more. For each contribution, DiscoverScholars.org identifies the students who meet donors’ criteria, decides who should receive funding, and then issues checks in students’ names to their learning institutions. In the event that we do not have at least five students who meet the donors’ attributes, DiscoverScholars.org tries to accomodate the donors’ request as best as possible.
