How does digital radiography work?
The technique utilizes a reusable phosphorescent plate in an x-ray cassette, allowing production of a digital image that can be scanned by a laser and stored in a computer. Softer areas like gums and cheeks look darker on the digital image. Similarly, the strong dense enamel of your teeth looks very light on the image, and areas of softer decay look darker. Dr. Banta has been trained to read these images to determine if there are any signs of problems.
