Digital cameras record images electronically because they have built-in computers. To make an image digital, it has to be broken down into a language that computers can read, bits and bytes, a long string of 1s and 0s that represent the pixels that the picture is broken down into. by taking a digital photo, you are essentially recording the light that bounces off your subject, focusing it onto an electronic semiconductor, and breaking it down into those pixels.
