How does Differential GPS work?
A GPS engine is placed in a fixed position and left to work out its current position. By telling the GPS engine that it is not moving, it can monitor the signals coming from each satellite and work out the corrections which need to be applied to each satellite in order to remove the effects of delays in the signal travelling through the ionosphere. These corrections are then broadcast to a moving GPS receiver. There are two different types of DGPS correction with varying degrees of accuracy improvement available to VBOX’s.
