How does determining the age of an igenous rock help date fossils?
Actually, they can help in determining the age of fossils. Although igneous rocks will never have a fossil in it, (simply because no living thing can withstand the high temperatures igneous rocks form at) they can be dated. If for example, a fossil is found in the same strata as a lava flow, and scientists know the age of the lava, then they can get a rough estimate on how old the fossil may be. So, they can’t determine the age directly, however, in context, they can.
