I don’t have my copy with me so I’ll give you general ideas and the approx location within the play for you to research. One of the main uses of power and manipulation is at the beginning of Act 2 when they are interrogating Bishop (I think that’s her name) When she’s says she’s not a witch – “I know not what a witch is” Then he comes back with something like, if you don’t know what a witch is, then how do you know you are not one? That is a circular argument – there is no way to answer that and he uses it against her. He also lets Abigail manipulate him in order for him to have more power over the people brought up on charges. If Abigail knows who are in league with Satan, then he allows her to basically condemn the people of Salem. However, when she alludes to the guilt of the Reverend and he, himself (Act 3 I think) he denounces her ability to tell who is guilty. I hope this helps a little bit.
