How does Delta Dental pay for braces?
• Your benefits must include coverage for orthodontia in order for any payment to be made. • If the fee is $1,000 or less, the total charge will be considered a one-time fee and paid according to your contracted benefits. • If the treatment is more than $1,000 an orthodontic schedule will be established for automatic payments. The first payment considers ¼ of the charge for the placement of the braces and pays according to the contracted benefits. The balance of the charge or ¾ is divided by the number of months the dentist plans on treatment. These monthly charges are paid according to the benefits of the contract until the maximum orthodontic benefit is reached, the treatment ends or coverage terminates. • If braces are placed prior to coverage with Delta Dental, only the remaining months of treatment are considered for payment.
