How does DBT work?
DBT involves collaboration between the client, therapist, and other medical caregivers of the client. The general goal of DBT is to develop skills that fall within the following four categories: Core mindfulness: These skills help you develop ways to focus your attention and be present in the here and now. They also increase your ability to access your inner wisdom and sense of self. Distress Tolerance: These skills help improve ability to cope with distress without self-destructive behavior patterns. Interpersonal Relationships: These skills help you communicate more directly and assertively in your relationships, while you enhance the relationship, maintain self-respect, and satisfy objectives. Emotion Regulation: These skills help you develop more understanding of the causes and effects of your emotions.
