how does cyanosis lead to a heart attack?
Cyanosis is a term used to describe the color (usually a blue or purplish tint) of the skin due to hypoxia (lack of oxygen in the blood). A heart attack (myocardial infarction) is when the heart muscle dies due to lack of oxygen, or lack of blood flow that transports oxygen to the heart muscle. In other words, cyanosis doesn’t cause a heart attack, but can mean heart damage is occurring. Lack of oxygen in the blood means less oxygen is getting to your heart muscle, which can cause a heart attack.
