How does CWP contribute to reducing teenage pregnancy rates?
In working with primary aged pupils our intention is that they go to secondary school already confident and able to talk about sexual health issues articulately and without embarrassment. These pupils are better equipped to deal with the more explicit issues raised in the secondary curriculum. When children have not been taught SRE at primary school a lot of time is wasted having to catch up at a point when they may be increasingly vulnerable to unintended pregnancy. CWP supports primary and secondary teachers to develop the skills and confidence they need to teach effective SRE. Ultimately they are helping young people to consider the implications of having a sexual relationship, to be assertive and to make informed decisions.
