Crestor is a synthetic lipid lowering agent. Crestor inhibits the HMG-CoA reductase which is responsible for conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, an initial phase in cholesterol biosynthesis. More focus should be given for the patients with multiple risk factor or patients suffering from atherosclerosis due to elevated cholesterol level. Rosuvastatin is recommended as an on going therapy along with diet when non pharmacological regimen is not adequate to produce result.
