How does credit work for my senior project and the Senior Colloquium?

The Senior Colloquium (CGSC 490) is required during both semesters of your senior year. It earn .5 credits per semester, for a full credit over the year. In addition, the many majors who are doing empirical projects for their senior essays may also get an additional credit — usually during the first semester of their senior year — for actually conducting the project, by registering for a credit of Directed Research in Cognitive Science (CGSC 471 or 472).
