How does CP handle work/rest and quality-of-life issues?
A. CP is very concerned about how to balance the needs of the operation with employee needs to have reasonable time away from work. Significant work has been done, especially on SOO, to establish work/rest arrangements that give locomotive engineers and conductors predictable, scheduled time off after they work a specified number of days. What we have learned is that there is no “one size fits all” solution. As the Transition Teams continue to learn more about DM&E and IC&E’s business and operations, new opportunities for addressing work/rest and qualify of life issues may emerge. However, at the present time, things will remain the same.
