How does course scheduling work for high school students at 21CCCS?
High school students at 21CCCS are scheduled according to 21CCCS Graduation Requirements. A typical high school course load is 6 credits per year, split to 3 credits per semester. In some instances it may be appropriate to allow a student to take 3.5 credits each semester. High school courses are block scheduled, meaning an entire course is completed within one semester (half a school year). The majority of 21CCCS courses are divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. Guidance will review transcripts from the student’s previous school(s) and determine what courses the student needs to take. Courses will be scheduled according to the standard course progressions, unless alternate scheduling is necessary. Typically students are not scheduled with Math and Science during the same semester, or English or Social Studies during the same semester in an effort to balance similar subjects. Once the schedule is completed, Guidance will contact the family. Students are scheduled according to 21CC
