How does copyright law apply to stencils?

All StenSource® International, Inc. designs (and the designs of most other stencil companies) are copyrighted (appropriate forms filed in Washington, D.C.). This means that StenSource® International, Inc. owns the designs and no one may copy those designs. This especially includes using them in any way or form for commercial gain. When you buy a stencil, you do not buy the design, only the right to personal use of the design. Using stencils on any product that you plan to mass produce and sell in quantity (birdhouses, T-shirts, printed fabrics, wood shapes, etc.) is illegal and constitutes copyright infringement, which is a felony offense. However, in certain cases we grant *limited use for resale.
