How does constitutional autonomy change the current situation?
The developments described above are the result of important advances the University of Hawai i has made over the past decade. Thanks to the support of state lawmakers, UH now keeps the tuition funds that it collects, has greater control over its assets and personnel and can manage its land and money to maximize resources. Collectively, these developments have been called “legislative autonomy” because they result from laws passed by the Legislature. But these laws can be reversed in any given year.
