How does compatibility work with astrological natal charts?
We’re a blend of the important personal things in our charts. We are not just our Sun, Moon and ASC sign placements. In fact a better way to do this is to ignore the Sun and Moon signs and use the season of birth and lunar phase at birth and with the ASC determine which qualities dominate then look for someone compatible. Using your example and guessing a bit since I don’t have the chart: Sun in Sagittarius, autumn, cold and dry Moon in Gemini 2nd quarter hot and dry ASC Scorpio a water sign, cold and wet Two colds and one hot so cold dominates. Two drys and one wet so dry dominates. Cold and dry dominates. So you want someone who has one of those qualities dominating but not both. So hot and dry or a fire type or cold and moist a water type. That way there are some things in common for comfort and some things different to keep things interesting.
