How does communication take place between the Home School and OMS?
A. The teacher to teacher communication is the most critical piece to the success of this program. OMS teachers are required to initiate and maintain contact with the Home School teachers on a weekly basis. The communication is done by phone or email, the Home School teacher will direct the OMS staff as to which means of communication works best for them. The weekly contact is to answer questions, address concerns and to ensure that the material is being covered at the proper pace and level of detail as was specified in the Collaboration Agreement. OMS teachers also prepare written Progress Reports that are sent monthly to the Home School and to the parents. Progress Reports list key concepts and/or units covered in each subject area as well as an interim grade in each. The final Progress Report for a quarter (also known as a marking period) includes the student’s grade for that quarter (students enrolled in the Winter Term Program complete Quarter 2 and Quarter 3 at OMS).
