How does Colleagues International choose the visitors?
A. Colleagues International is a Council for International Visitors (CIV) and part of NCIV, the National Council for International Visitors. NCIV is a partner of the U.S. Department of State, International Visitor Leadership Program which annually brings to the United States approximately 5,000 foreign nationals from all over the world to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience America firsthand. The visitors, who are selected by American Foreign Service Officers overseas, are current or potential leaders in government, politics, the media, education, the arts, business and other fields. Program agencies work with NCIV to determine the best cities to place visitors based on the visitors’ field of interest and goals of the program. IVLP visitors typically begin their programs in Washington D.C. and visit several cities in the U.S. In addition to being invited to host visitors, Colleagues International staff remains in close contact with program agencies to
