How does citizenship work for gay civil unions?
Civil unions are not recognized by the federal government. This is yet another way America is propagating legal discrimination. There would be no benefit of citizenship within a gay relationship. It is also sad to point out that a civil union is by no means comparable to the rights of a marriage contract, and are only recognized in a few states nationwide. I am sorry that I cannot give you better news. If there is ever a miracle in our legislation you may someday see a time you and your partner will be recognized as equal.
