How does Christians explain the similarities between Jesuss life and pagan gods that existed before him?
Most christians would say that the pagans are descended from Adam and Eve, and Noah as well. Thus, their ancestors spoke with God, understood god, and over time these people evolved this message into the pagan beleifs, which proves that God’s plan to human kind was well understood and communicated to man from the beginning. This of course is ridiculous. For example, the Sumerians had a flood story where one man and his three sons survived a world wide flood. This is 1,000 to 1,200 years older than the Hebrew Bible we call the Old Testament. I have heard christians use this same argument, that Noah is the real truth, and the pagan version a “skewed” version of the truth. look up “The Gilgemesh Epic- this is the later babylonian version of the Sumerian original flood story…” What christians forget is that archaeology has proven that the earliest forms of religions of mankind were polytheistic, where borrying, copying, sharing, etc was common place.
