Chiropractors work with the spinal cord and the Nervous System to maximize and maintain its proper function. The Nervous System is made up of the brain, spinal cord and all of the nerves in your body. The spinal cord and nerves carry messages from the brain and deliver them to different areas of the body. The Nervous System controls all of the body’s functions. Everything we see, smell, taste, touch and feel is controlled by the Nervous System; it even controls the smallest movement or sensation in our bodies and allows us to grow and develop from a child to an adult. Under the instruction of the Nervous System we have grown into who and what we are today and it is responsible for our continued survival. If the brain is unable to communicate with the body as effectively as it should this can lead to disease or dysfunction. This could be felt as pain, numbness, headaches, or any number of symptoms.
