How does Charity Center choose the communities in which it works?
Charity Center has developed criteria to ensure we work where there is the greatest need and where we can have the greatest impact. To determine need, we consider international development indicators such as infant and maternal mortality rates, the country’s wealth, government stability and willingness to work in collaboration with us to improve children’s lives. • Infant mortality rates: Countries with more than 25 deaths per 1,000 live births are considered to be in great need. • Gross National Product (GNP): The GNP per capita should be less than US $1,700. • Physical Quality of Life index (PQLI): The PQLI combines key quality of life factors, including literacy, life expectancy and infant mortality, to create a standard measure of quality of life.
