The best way to help maximize the prosperity of our society is to protect competition and the competitive process, not competitors. Two of the key objectives of the Act are the promotion of the efficiency and adaptability of the Canadian economy, and expanding opportunities for Canadian participation in world markets.5 The purpose of the Act is to maintain and encourage competition in Canada, thereby protecting Canadians from the harm caused by anti-competitive conduct or policies.
