How does Bomb Blast resistant LLumar Magnum films work if the blast occurs inside the building?
• Question: (5/2/2006): All your bomb blast testing is with the blast located outside the building. But is the security film of any value if the bomb goes off inside the building? Answer: This is what we reasonably can say (though without proof) about what happens when a bomb goes off INSIDE a building, if the windows are filmed with a 7- or 8-mil security film. There has been no formal test for this, but this is what we can reasonably expect. 1. If the bomb detonates inside a building, there probably will be no difference in the effect of the bomb to the nearby people inside the building. They will be injured and die as readily as if they were outdoors because of the concussion and shrapnel. They will have no barrier between them and the blast. 2. Probably more glass will be shed from the glass surface to the outside than if the blast were to the exterior. This would be because of the “bubble effect” in the window, the blast pushing on the filmed surface from within, breaking the glas
