How does biological monitoring tell us about the water quality of our rivers?
There are many species of macro-invertebrates living in our rivers and streams throughout Bristol. Some of these species prefer cleaner water than others, whilst other species are more tolerant of polluted waters. By surveying which species of macro-invertebrates live where, we can classify the quality of our rivers and streams.
