How does AUTO mode work on my HomeGenie Programmable Thermostat?
AUTO mode is useful in areas where the outside temperature might fluctuate considerably over the day (e.g. from 50F to 80F). The example that follows assumes that your thermostat schedule is set to a heat point of 70F and a cool point of 74F. Example: In the morning when the outside temp is 55F and your Programmable Thermostat is set to AUTO, the internal setting will actually be in the AUTO/HEAT mode. The heating system will heat up your house until it reaches 70F. During the day, if the outside temperature climbs To 76F (2 degrees above the cool set point), the Programmable Thermostat will still show AUTO, but will internally switch automatically to AUTO/COOL mode. The A/C will turn on and run until 74F has been reached. In the evening, when it gets colder, the Programmable Thermostat again will internally switch back to AUTO/HEAT. The heater will then turn on when your home’s temperature drops below 68F (2 degrees below the heat set point).
