How does author royalties work when publishing with PENDIUM?
Note that the average royalty rate paid to authors by traditional publishers is 10.7%. Other on-demand publishers pay a royalty rate between 15% and 30%. PENDIUM pays a royalty rate of 100% for all bookstore sales in order for you to recoup any upfront investment. Royalties are paid within 30 to 45 days after the end of each quarter ending in March, June, September, and December. Royalties on printed books = 100% (sold through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.) Royalties on printed books = 75% (when ordered from PENDIUM’s website) Let’s say your book has a cover price on Amazon.com of $16.95. Subtract the Amazon.com 55% trade discount ($16.95 x .55 = $9.32) from the list price and that leaves $7.62 ($16.95 – $9.32). Then subtract printing cost ($3.30). The remainder ($4.32) from this is the profit margin, 100% of which is the royalty paid to the author. Royalties on this same book sold through the PENDIUM’s website: $16.95 cover price – $3.30 printing charge = $13.65 (profit margin). $13.65
