The brain has many naturally occurring chemical messengers. One of these is called noradrenaline. It is important in the areas of the brain that control or regulate concentration, mood and thinking. Atomoxetine increases the amount of this noradrenaline, which increases attention and decreases impulsiveness and hyperactivity in people with ADHD.
