How does assistive technology support placement in the least restrictive environment?
The use of assistive technology devices may facilitate the student’s achievement in the least restrictive environment. By providing tools that help a student function either more independently and/or more successfully in the regular classroom, assistive technology can impact both curriculum and staff supports that a student requires. Supplementary aids and services include devices and services such as curriculum modification, support staff, computers and other assistive technology devices, peer support, speech, occupational, and physical therapies.
