How does aquarium salt benefit a fish tank ?
This is a bit of a difficult question to answer. But firstly I have a green puffer fish. Because it is an estuary fish it likes a certain percentage of aquarium salt in it’s water. However, when you look at the community aquarium you could have fish in it which like a bit of salt (like mollies or plecostomus etc) and others which don’t like it at all. However, as the salt ‘likers’ can live OK in clean freshwater the best bet is to not use salt at all. Some people keep say mollies in a tank of there own with a little aquarium salt added as it is better to get them breeding. However, I think the concise answer is that in most situations none sea fish should not have salt added to their water unless they actually need it and have no other fish with them which might be adversely effected by the presence of salt.
