How does AppDetectivePro verify patch levels on a system with Oracles OPatch tool?
In efforts to standardize its patch management framework, Oracle developed its OPatch tool. In versions of Oracle 9i release 2 and greater, including Oracle 10g, new patches can be installed using the OPatch tool, however it is not mandatory to use Opatch for these installations. AppDetectivePro will only be able to verify the patch level of an Oracle database when patches are installed using the OPatch tool. To verify the patch level on an Oracle database (9i.2 and 10g) that was installed using OPatch, AppDetectivePro audit checks will gather and analyze OPatch data to verify the exact patch level. AppDetectivePro requires access to the target Operating System in order to perform these checks, therefore valid OS credentials must be provided when setting up each Audit. If patches are applied to the database without using OPatch, AppDetectivePro will not be able to determine the exact patch level.
