How does an individual obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon in South Carolina?
Applications may be obtained from your county sheriff’s office. Applicants must complete the required paperwork which includes fingerprints and a photograph, a minimum of eight hours of firearms training from an instructor certified by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and submit an application fee of fifty dollars to SLED. Once your application is received by SLED, a background check will be completed and your request for a concealed weapon permit will either be granted or denied within ninety days.
