How Does An HGV Supercharger Work?

0

There are two types of superchargers that heavy goods vehicles use: turbochargers and superchargers. They are both called forced induction system. A supercharger, basically, compresses the air that is flowing into the engine. This allows the engine to fill more and more air into a cylinder in order to fill in more fuel. More fuel reaching the engine means the engine will get more power with each explosion in the cylinder. So, by using a supercharger, the engine can produce more power. The increase in power with the use of a supercharger is up to 6 to 8 pounds per square inch. The amount of air which enters the engine is increased by 50 per cent and so is the power. In a car, a super charger gets its power like the alternator or water pump does. It is connected to the engine which a belt.
