After DOB has approved the agency’s request and the agency has placed the order with the dealership, one copy of the purchase order is mailed or faxed to OGS Fleet Administration. It must be indicated (on PO or note) whether the vehicle(s) will require State Plates or Street Plates. • State plates begin with the year of the vehicle, followed by 4 digits, i.e. a 2002 vehicle state plate would be 02-9999. • Street Plates are the plates that are seen on private passenger cars, i.e. ABC-1172. The State Identification number(s) will be written on the PO and faxed back to the agency. This should be kept on file. It will be needed when placing a vehicle on the Statewide Vehicle Management Inventory, requesting a NYS Gasoline Credit Card (Blue Transaction Card); requesting a Contract Maintenance Card; requesting an Exxon/Mobil Commercial Gasoline Credit Card. (Certain Agencies are exempt, please contact Fleet Administration for further information regarding exemptions.
