How does America react to world regions where people had different beliefs and cultures than their own?
On the whole the American interaction between other cultures and belief systems has not been good. In Iraq, at the beginning of the Occupation, the Bush appointed supremo in charge of reconstruction stated that he knew nothing of Iraq and had not even read a book on Iraqi history or culture. In Latin America American evangelical religious groups have targeted Indian tribes, subverting their culture and forcing American values on them. One way of gaining some insight into US attitudes to other cultures is to analyse the roles of non-Americans in movies. With a few notable and honourable exceptions American movies are a vehicle for US cultural imperialism.
