How does Allback clean their linseed oil?
After the flax seed have been cold pressed, the oil is heavily stirred and then stored. The protein in the oil will sink to the bottom after approximately 4 weeks. The oil is then pumped off the surface. This process is repeated until the oil is cleaned. Low heat is used to speed up the separation of the oil and the protein. It is very important for the quality of the paint to remove as much protein as possible. The linseed oil can then be boiled and sterilized. When the oil is sterilized, it dries and the need for any added chemicals is eliminated. Return to FAQ.
