How does Air Fantastic compare to HEPA filters ?
HEPA filters are basically paper filters that were developed during World War II for the Manhattan Project to capture radioactive dust. Unfortunately in a residential home environment HEPA filters require lots of energy to work and tend to be very noisy. There are expensive filters that must be replace usually once a month and only cover areas typically up to 500 sq. ft. HEPA filters generally are not effective in reducing airborne microbial (mold, fungus, & bacteria) and can not reduce surface bacteria. HEPA are usually not effective in reducing odors. The Air Fantastic Machines use very little energy (~39 Watts) and has been university tested to reduce up to 99.9% of particulates, allergen, and dust from the air. Since the ions can travel throughout the whole house, our home models can cover up to 3,000 to 4,000 sq. ft.
