How does AFY measure success?
The intention of the Celebrando la Familia program is to offer education and activities that contribute to the reduction and elimination of alcohol and drug use among the target population, to decrease impulsive and destructive behavior and to increase educational expectations and aspirations. To evaluate the success of the program, AFY conducts a pre- and post-survey to examine Hispanic/Latino student’s drug use, destructive behaviors and academic performance before, during and after entering the Celebrando program. In addition, at the end of each semester, the Celebrando Program Director collects student report cards from the student’s permanent record to compare changes in academic achievement. A pre- and post-test are given to each student at Clearview Educational Center on the PLATO software, testing their skills in English, math and language arts.
