How does additional teaching impact existing CUPE Unit 1, CUPE Unit 2 or RFA work?
For RFA members, additional teaching beyond their regular workload (as outlined in the RFA collective agreement) is treated as overload. For more information see the Overload policy at http://www.ryerson.ca/teaching/policies. Normally, RFA members may not have more than 2 overload appointments in a semester (note: Spring/Summer semester is considered one semester). Payments for overload are made on a monthly basis and are processed using the Personnel Action form. Overload pay is treated as overtime and is not pensionable. For CUPE Unit 1 employees, additional teaching requires a revision to the existing contract. This may change the status of the employee, e.g. part time to sessional, with associated changes to benefits entitlement. Additional teaching beyond a full teaching workload (i.e. Full-sessional appointment) is treated as overload.
