How does activation work?
Most consumers who purchase a single-user product will install and activate it immediately, although activation can be completed any time within the trial period after installation. Products must be activated within the trial period or they will no longer run. The activation process is most often completed over the Internet and takes just a few seconds. However, activation by telephone is also available. Either option can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Activation is completed either directly through the Internet or by contacting Customer Care by telephone or e-mail. During activation, a unique identification code is created that represents your individual product key and the hardware configuration of your PC at the time of activation. The identification code does not include any personal information, any information about software or data that may reside on your PC, or any information about the specific make or model of your PC. The identification code only identifies the PC and only does so for the sole purpose of activation.
