How does a wired network work?

0

Ethernet cables are used to make a wired network (LAN – Local Area Network) between the computer and the router provided by the ISP (with the exception of Virgin) or to an Ethernet switch/hub. They use RJ45 plugs that look similar to phone plugs. Ethernet cabling is the most reliable way of creating a network, and is pretty quick – usually 100Mb/s, now also available in ‘gigabit’ form, which is 1000Mb/s (also known as 1Gb/s).
